Spring 2005

IT’S ALMOST SPRINGTIME! We’ve had some incredible weather over the past month here in the Napa Valley. In February, we saw lots of rain, followed by a couple weeks of warmer than usual weather. We then received more rain to remind us that it’s not quite Springtime just yet. And now this week, we’re seeing temperatures rise into the 70s, and we’re hoping that it sticks around until the official start of spring! So, what better time than now to plan your next Napa Valle y wine tour or your next romantic weekend getaway. Come stay at our wine country cottage, which is definitely not your typical wine country bed and breakfast. Our guest cottage has all the amenities of most Napa Valley bed and breakfasts, but the view from this guest cottage is stunning! Give us a call to find out more.

The Growing Season
Now is one of the most important aspects of the winemaking process – pruning. Yes, all great wines start in the vineyards. Currently, our vineyard staff has been keeping busy pruning all of our vines in the Fleur de Vigne vineyard. It’s not an easy task and requires years upon years of hands on experience, literally. Not just anyone is allowed to prune our vines.

We’ve assembled a well skilled and qualified vineyard team lead by three gifted and great men; Javier Montes, Octavio Olivera and Fernando Olivera. These men have a combined 41 years of experience and take great pride in helping our vines develop each season. We look forward to watching bud break here in the next four to six weeks.

It’s All Gone...
We’re happy to announce that we’ve sold our entire 2002 Sympa already! This is the second consecutive vintage we’ve sold out before the official March 15 release date. It is very rewarding for us to see such a wonderful response to our wines. We look forward to sharing more wines with you from the 2003 vintage and beyond.

For those of you interested in purchasing our wines, we’re already taking orders on the 2003 vintage. We encourage you to get your orders in as soon as possible. If the 2001 and 2002 are any indication of the demand for our wines, we highly encourage you to get your orders in as soon as you can. Click here for more information.

And, don’t forget, we’re always looking for new adopt-a-vine parents! They make wonderful wine gifts for your friends and family members who have always dreamed of buying a vineyard! Fill out our Adopt-a-Vine form today and make their wine country dreams come true!

Again, we hope you're having a wonderful start to 2005!

Sarah Gott Joins Winery as Consulting Winemaker
Paulette and I are excited to announce that Sarah Gott has joined our winery as Consulting Winemaker. Sarah brings a wide range of winemaking experience to us, including Head Winemaker at Joseph Phelps Vineyards, Quintessa, and her family’s own label, Joel Gott Wines. She has an incredible track record for producing some of Napa Valley’s most recognized wines and we’re confident that her association with St. Helena Winery will elevate the bar on our wines.
