Spring
2006
SPRING FORWARD! We’ve
had a wild winter so far here in Napa Valley and according
to The Weather Channel, there’s no sight of spring
on the way. However, we’re preparing for bud break
and the beginning of the growing season for our vines. If
you’ve never seen wine country this time of year,
we urge you to visit. There is nothing more spectacular
than watching the vines come to life! Contact
us if you’d like to visit the winery.
On a more personal note, we’re very
proud to announce the entry of our son Kristian (34 years
young), and daughter Kimberly (31 years young), into the
wine producing family here at St. Helena Winery. Over the
past several years, both have expressed a keen interest
in winemaking and we’re excited that they will now
share in our joy and passion. Though Kimberly and Kristian
will use our facility and source fruit from our estate vineyard,
each will create their own brand which will speak to their
own vision and varietal interests.
Kristian
is producing a traditional Bordeaux- inspired blend based
on Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot, and Petit Verdot. His
winemakers creation is named Séduire.
Kimberly
is venturing towards a more edgy wine with a Cabernet Sauvignon-based
blend with Petit Sirah and Petite Verdot. She has named
her brand Ravenous.
In accordance with St. Helena Winery’s
philosophy of putting quality over quantity, Séduire
and Ravenous
are available in limited qualities.
In my humble opinion, both of these new
wines have their own character and are worth experiencing.
Then again, this could be the parent talking! For more information
on these wines and how you can order, please contact us.
This is a proud moment for Paulette and
me, and we’re so delighted to share these new wines
from our children with you.

Price Increase
Our philosophy at St. Helena
Winery has always focused on quality. With this goal comes
increased costs that, until now, we have not passed along
on to our customers. In the past five years, barrels have
increased more than 50%, vineyard labor almost 40%. After
careful thought, Paulette and I decided market demand and
inflation required us to take our first price increase since
we were founded five years ago.
Starting with the 2004 vintage,
Scandale increases from $45 to $50 per bottle and Sympa
from $80 to $100 per bottle.
But we will not forget you
loyal customers! We will not increase prices for our ‘Vine
Parents’ and ‘Case Level’ customers of
record (effective June 30, 2006). You will never have your
price increased, and will be charged the current prices
of $45 for Scandale and $80 for Sympa (as long as you buy
on an annual basis).
We appreciate all of our customers
and hope this increase does not deter you from enjoying
our wines in the future.
Save the Date!
On September 16-17,
we welcome you all to join us at our Estate for our first
annual Harvest Party. We will offer a wonderful BBQ, along
with barrel samples and current release vintages of Scandale,
Sympa, and our children’s wines, Séduire and Ravenous.
Come enjoy beautiful wine country at the peak of harvest.
More details will follow in our summer newsletter! Stay
tuned.
